Guide for Presenters

Overview

Please read this page carefully as you prepare your presentations for SMPC 2024 in Banff. There are separate instructions for spoken presentations and poster presentations. The preliminary Program is also printed in case this is helpful information as you prepare your presentations.

Spoken Presentation Guidelines

Each spoken presentation will be given 20 minutes (15 minutes for the presentation + 5 minutes for questions). Spoken presentations will be grouped in Sessions. Each Session consists of three similarly-themes spoken presentations, and will be run by a Session Chair. The Session Chair will be responsible for ensuring that the Session runs smoothly, including (1) providing time updates to presenting authors, and (2) facilitating the question period.

Each room will be outfitted with an audiovisual setup. We encourage authors to bring their own laptops to connect to the AV equipment. We will update this page with information about available dongles/connections as we receive it; however, we encourage presenting authors to bring their own.

Poster Presentation Guidelines

There are two poster sessions - one on Friday, July 26th (3:30 - 4:45pm), and one on Saturday, July 27th (3:30 - 4:45pm). Presenting authors are expected to stand in front of their posters during this scheduled time; however, authors can put up their posters at any point prior to the poster session on the day of their poster session.

Each poster will be assigned a number, and each poster board will be labeled with a number. Please use this system to find out where to put up your poster. The maximum poster size is 5' (wide) x 4' (tall).

There is an option to print your posters on-site through a Ricoh Copy Centre, which is located on the campus of the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. he Ricoh Copy Centre printer is limited to printing a maximum of 41 inches on one side. The cost is $5.35 per sq ft. Files should be submitted as PDFs, and presenters can pay via credit card. Due to the expected volume of printing services, we strongly recommend that you submit your orders with at least seven days of notice. The Copy Centre is open Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm.

If you would like to print your poster through the on-site Ricoh Copy Centre, please email the PDF of your poster to print_shop@banffcentre.ca. There is no online payment system for the posters. Payments can be made in person, upon pickup of the poster (cash, debit, credit), or can be made in advance over the phone (+1 403-762-3113), if paying by debit or credit. Cash and debit cards can also be used. If you pre-pay over the phone, the Copy Centre can deliver your poster to a location on campus as per your request.

A map of the Banff Campus is provided below for reference. The copy/print centre is in the bottom part of the map (grey buildings).
